Amit Shah Launches Fast Track Immigration Programme for Indian Nationals and OCI Cardholders
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a special programme to fast-track the immigration process for pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders. The Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) is described as a “visionary initiative” by the government, designed to streamline travel for eligible individuals.
Under this programme, applicants need to apply online and submit their biometrics (fingerprints and facial image) along with other required information specified in the application form. The FTI registration will be valid for a maximum of five years or until the validity of the passport, whichever comes first.
Approved applicants will receive a message to schedule an appointment to provide their biometric details. These details can be submitted at designated international airports in India or the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) according to the scheduled appointment. Biometrics submission is mandatory for the completion of the application process.
Applicants must ensure their passports have a minimum validity of six months when applying for the FTI-TTP, as the membership will be co-terminus with passport validity. Providing a current residential address is crucial to avoid application rejection. Applications with incorrect or false information or that conceal material facts will be liable for rejection. Those whose biometrics cannot be captured for technical reasons will also not be registered.
The FTI-TTP aims to revolutionize travel experiences, making the process faster, easier, and more secure. This initiative showcases the government’s commitment to enhancing travel convenience and efficiency.
Registration under FTI will be completed after necessary verifications and confirmation of eligibility. Applicants will be registered once their identity has been successfully authenticated through mobile OTP and email verification.
