Early Life and Career Beginnings
Born on September 8, 1981, in Singapore, Faizal Hamid is a notable Singaporean footballer who has contributed significantly to the local football scene. His journey began at Siglap Secondary School, renowned for producing football talents. He honed his skills in Geylang United’s academy alongside prominent players like Syed Fadhil and Lionel Lewis.

Professional Career
Faizal started his professional career with Geylang United FC before moving to Home United FC in 2006. His time at Home United marked him as a promising talent, eventually catching the eye of national team coach Radojko Avramovic.

He made his debut for the Singapore national team in 2004 during a match against Indonesia. Unfortunately, his first international appearance was cut short due to an injury just 19 minutes into the game. Despite this setback, Faizal persevered and returned to international duty three years later.

In 2007, Faizal joined SAFFC (Singapore Armed Forces FC), where he established himself as a reliable defender, displacing national team stalwart Hafiz Osman. His return to the national team came during a friendly match against the UAE, solidifying his role as a key player.

By 2008, Faizal signed with Gombak United FC, where he continued to showcase his defensive prowess in the S-League, earning the jersey number 2.

International Contributions
Faizal represented Singapore seven times at the international level, often playing as a right-back. Despite limited appearances due to injuries and competition, his dedication to the national team was unwavering.

Beyond Football
Off the pitch, Faizal pursued academic excellence, earning a diploma in Electrical Engineering from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. At one point, he considered stepping away from football to focus on a career with the Singapore Prison Service. However, his commitment to the sport and national pride led him to continue playing, notably participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
