Newsweek CEO Dev Pragad To Attend Pravasi Bharatiya Divas as Guest of Honor

Dev Pragad: Chief Executive Officer of Newsweek

NEW YORK, NY – Dev Pragad, CEO of Newsweek, has been invited to attend the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention in Bhubaneswar as the Guest of Honor. The event, which will be held from January 8 to 10, aims to celebrate the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the development of India and to strengthen the relationship between India and its global community. This invitation comes directly from India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar.

An official statement highlighted that Pragad’s presence at the PBD Convention is a testament to his significant achievements in transforming Newsweek. It recognizes his role in showcasing the tenacity and success of the Indian diaspora around the world.

Since Pragad took the leadership of Newsweek, he has transformed the 87-year-old publication into a dynamic, profitable digital platform with over 100 million monthly readers—marking a historic high for the company. His leadership has not only revitalized the publication’s reach but also positioned it as a key player in global conversations, with Newsweek hosting prominent leaders like Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Harvard Business School has acknowledged Pragad’s strategic acumen by featuring Newsweek’s remarkable turnaround in two case studies used in its executive programs.

Now a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom, Pragad also serves on the Advisory Board of the Prince’s Trust, a charity established by King Charles III to help support disadvantaged youth. He is an alumnus of both Harvard Business School and King’s College London, where he holds the title of Fellow.

The theme for this year’s Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), underscores the growing influence of the Indian diaspora in shaping India’s global narrative.
